Need Air!!

Okay, I have to relate the latest Nate story. For those that don't this already about us Friday is always pizza night. It's tradition. Well my parents went out last night to see a movie so it was just me and the kids. By the time we went out to the van to go get the pizza, the vehicle was rather warm. My van is old and isn't the quickest in cooling off so I rolled the windows down until we got enough air in there to try the air conditioner. Nate pops up and asks, "Mommy, why do we need air in here." I should have known better. I admit that now. Being a smart alec to my 4 1/2 year old son in never a wise idea. I popped right back with, "So we can breathe, Nate." So Nate starts exaggerating his breathing in and breathing out showing me that he understands and just accepting my answer. When we got to the highway I closed the windows figuring it had cooled off enough to try the air conditioner. Instantly this panicked little voice in the back seat yells out, "No, Mommy, don't close the windows!! We need the air to breathe!!!"

I should have known better. :-P

Why was that a smart-alec response? I should warn you I take things rather literally. Though sometimes with the intention of playing with the words while knowing otherwise. ;)

Because I knew he was referring to why I put the windows down not the literal. I purposely took him literally. Not a smart thing with a 4 year old. :) And you should know David, that I already think you're a smart-alec. I didn't need to be warned.

That's funny. I'm waiting for Allan to get old enough to display his Miille smart-alecness.
